The scanner is very good. Also the print quality and speed it prints at is also very good for an all in one of this price. Replacement ink on ebay is very cheap. A Good value all rounder.
Everything about this printer is good but not exceptional. The speed can quite slow especially colour prints and the printer itself is rather large. Also doesn't come with a usb cable, you have to buy that separately. The ink is bundled with it but I have gone through it rather quickly so not sure if it's cos of me or cos of the amount of ink given. The original Epson ink replacements are very expensive but you can get cheap non originals elsewhere.

Printing (text and photo) and photocopying quality good, particularly liked the fact that the photocopy facility can be used standalone.
I found the scanning quality a little poor - although easy to use. Data takes while to get from my old laptop to the printer, but once it starts printing it's a good speed.

good quality prints, photocopying speed is good
it drinks the ink,meaning I get very few print outs. When the ink says its run out, the cartridge is still half full and is expensive to refill

Speedy printing which is of a good quality. I can put memory cards straight in to print photos from an index sheet.
Ink is getting low already! Doesn't print from USB memory sticks.

Well worth it for the price. Reasonable print quality and cheap cartridges. Easy to use. Basically, it's great for standard, every-day usage.
Does use ink fairly quickly.

Very quick scanning, copying and printing. Compact so doesn't take up much room and light so easy to transport. Very easy to use.
Uses quite a lot of ink. Black colour shows up dust.

flashes a lot in an alarming way but as it still works i assume it just likes that!

at the moment there is no fiddling about with fiddl buttons and it is straight forward to use, you can buy seperate cartridges at a competive price
I just hope this epson DX 500 last longer than my last one which only lasted 16 months from purchase

scanner doesnt work after about ten uses in one go, ink cartriadge holder is useless and the printer doesnt recognise the recommended cartraidges.
