Very quiet
Does not work properly and I am not getting any service from Indesit. When I arranged for a service engineer to attend, no one turned up or phoned to explain the absence.
Having registered for service wih Indesit, no one could find the registration on the records. I re-registered and was told that I didn't qualify for service as the machine is being used by a charity, contrary to what I was told in the first place. The machine still does not wash properly or dry at all. I will never buy another Indesit!

Very quiet. Washes the dishes very well
The eco wash takes a very long time. The dishes are not very dry after the cycle is complete.
Economically priced. Good value for money.

Efficient. Excellent energy ratings
Long cycle time. Sometimes slow to start. Flimsy plate racks
Good basic machine

Well constructed, easy to use. The quick wash is fabulous, quick and a life saver when all our mugs are dirty!
Sometimes it can be a bit slow to respond to being turned on or reset, but this is really a minor thing. Could do with a wash cycle which is clearly just 'normal'.
I don't have a great deal to compare this to, having only had a full size miele in the past. However it does compare favourably and after 5 months of use i am still happy with my choice!

The dish washer is so simple to use and I now have sparkling dishes, cutlery
can't say it has any bad points
I'm glad I chose the Indesit IDL40. It fits in perfectly to the space we had left in our upgraded kitchen.

Fairly good wash
Top and bottom baskets need a re-design to make them more effective for dish and utensil loading
Not as good as the Tricity-Bendix which it had replaced

After a hard days work, then coming home to cook, I no longer ned to slave over the sink to do dishes too....great.
Length of cable to connect from dishwasher to waste pipe. A range of available lengths would be better.

Simple and easy to use. Hasn't got lots of buttons and is plain and simple looking.
The motor broke 3 months after buting it and we had to get it fixed but apart from that it has been good!

We chose this model as we could only fit a slimline model in our kitchen. I was impressed that the indesit scored a,a,and a in various categories and is also really good value for money. There is not much choice for slimline dishwashers but this is one of the cheapest and has a good choice of programmes.

Carrie, Gillingham
Nice looking and we like the Eco cycle. Although very long, the dishes are very clean and only a tad wet on the bottoms.
Feet don't adjust to allow stablising on an uneven surface. Our cups and glasses are always falling over in the top. Not enough room for larger items like mixing bowles. Door does not stay down without bottom basket being pulled out.

Rita, St. John Torpoint
Nice design. Controls clear to understand.
Difficult to load - plate settings too close together and sometimes plates are unwashed. Top shelf doesn't easily slot home and the pressure needed to allow door to close, can result in glasses etc. falling over. At the end of a cycle crockery is not as dry as my previous model.

Compact and easy to install. Very quiet when in operation. Really easy to operate as there are only four cycle options to select from and one button to push. All internal fittings such as salt dispenser and drain filter are easy to access for filling / cleaning.
Only one: there's no way of telling how far through the wash cycle the machine is.

In its price range it is the best buy. The Indesit Slimline saved us from endless nights of washing dishes and is the perfect buy if you are considering getting a dishwasher. The size means you do not need to wait for it to full up and can do a clean every night.

Nice and quite
Door does not stay down to allow ease of loading it pops back up pushing the basket back into the machine making loading a two handed job.

The dishes come out really clean, which is the most important thing to me.
It's not really a big deal but, although there is an express wash it would be better if the regular wash was a little quicker.

Mel, Swanley Kent
Monkey proof, really easy to use considering this is my first dishwasher
Quite noisey

It washes dishes that have a normal amount of soiling.
Leaves dishes very wet, machine is very noisy, top basket sticks so that when you pull it out to add more cups any previously loaded crash together.Wash cycles take a long time.Dried on debris will not be removed.

Roy, Comberton, Cambridge
Extra to markings as above, cold fill only. Size fits well into units.
Cutlery basket - slots not large enough for spoons round edge. No slots in top of basket to stand knives and forks upright. Basket tends to topple from side to side.

Carol, Abergee , North Wales
fits all dishes and pans for just 2 people without washing by hand or reloading
door seems a bad design
12 Jun 2007

Quiet Good simple programmes - not lots of useless programmes that will never be used
the top doesnt fit large glasses in well the cutlery basket can sometimes get in the way

Chris, Thetford
simple and straight forward to use with a minimum of programs, but ones that you would actually use
the cutlery tray could do with some clips to fix it to the basket, it has a tendancy to over balance or be easily knocked over during loading

David, London
It's good looking. Does the job well. The cleaning performance is good. The items are bone dry when they come out (if you leave inside for a little while after the wash). Perfect for single or couples. Not too big Overall very happy with this product.
A little noisy but not too bad. The layout of the place settings could be improved, but a minor moan. A little small for a family.

Wire racks inside are in sensible places to maximise on space. Machine was easy to plumb in ourselves, on replacing our old machine.
Noisier than we had been led to believe - even comparing with previous size dishwasher which was about 5 years old and possibly not an 'A' rating. The 'Start/reset' button is reluctant to work - I've learned to push it with more force! This may be a connection problem, if it starts to annoy/concern me more I'll make a call while within its guarantee. The feet dug into & tore the lino floor when pushing the machine into place! Is this machine heavier than our previous slimline dishwasher or does it just have spiky feet?!
29 Jan 2008
Gilles, West Molesey
the price and the size
seems to leave a grimy film on all dishes and glasses, doesn't wash and rince very well.
25 Mar 2008
Renee, Kinman
Has all what I was looking for - quick washes - height adjustment on top tray - and value for money - what more can I say ?
None that comes to mind

It's like the Tardis, small on the outside but holds a lot of dishes on the inside
16 Jul 2008

Lack of useful features, ie. lights to signal salt & rinse aid refill. Bad layout of basket/shelves.

27 Jun 2008
Justine, Bury
Very versatile can fit a lot of things in with verious combinations of arranging the pots. Not had any problem keeping the door open whilst loading which was mentioned in a lot of the reviews i read before purchasing it.
The cycles take quite a long time and the wire of the racks is quite flimsey and bends very easily
17 Jun 2007
Mick, Birmingham
Noisy, flimsily constructed. Cutlery tray is poorly designed and keeps falling over during washing. Not half as good as our old Bosch.
12 Jun 2007
Jane, Nottinghamshire
Easy to use and a compact design but still holds an amazing amount for its size.
Needs a delay timer so I can run it over night. The Indesit washing machine I have has one.

The base of the unit is a flimsy cosmetic shield. I bought this applance for my disabled father and he hit the base plinth below the door with his wheelchair. It fell off instantly. The cosmetic base plinth is not very secure and has very weak clasps. Althought it will not affect the workings of the appliance, any kind of bump, even with a mop could break it. So therefore I would not not recommend this appliance to my family/friends.
10 Mar 2008
Nicky, Plymouth
cheap to buy and economical to run - has an eco wash
A little bit clunky - the top basket does not run smoothly on the runners and it doesn't look so good inside as the hotpoint I previously had - ie grey plastic instead of white and the element is exposed.

Amanda, Barton Seagrave
cleaning. drying without smears and glass comes up perfect
12 Mar 2008
Jean, Astley, Manchester
Compact and unobtrusive, quiet and efficient, with a good capacity for the size if you pack things in cleverly. This is an exellent dishwasher, I live mainly alone but cook a lot and I only need to use it about three times a week.
It is a slightly greyer white than my other white goods and the electric cable and plug are black so if you need to plug it in above your worktops like me it offends your eye!! I'll have to change that.
