John, Boston Spa, Wetherby
Easy to use and set up.
Very variable reception. Often poor even on channels where I normally have no problem with analogue signals. Seemingly limited number of stations available on tune-in. A friend, for example, mentions stations he can get that I can't, even though we are only a couple of hundred yards away from each other.

Quite easy to set up. The FM link to a standard radio works well.
The supplied interior windscreen aerial is hopeless in my area, although indoor DAB radios work fine. It needs an exterior DAB car aerial, but the 2.5mm mini stereo jack connector used on the highway is not a standard aerial connector type so fitting one is going to involve soldering. This is a total pain - the product should be designed to accept a standard DAB aerial fitting. Also the only mounting option supplied is a suction mount windscreen type - whilst this is good there should be a mount supplied to fit the product to the dashboard as well.

good sound, easy to use, and an attractive design.
when tuned in to digital radio the batteries do not last very long.
good value for money when compared with other products of different makes

Good design, easy to operate.
Very good quality product, would purchase same brand on other occasions.

Simon, Stockport
Well designed, easy set up, clear FM transmission, strong mount onto windscreen
Reception on DAB was fine when car stationary. However as soon as the vehicle was moving the DAB reception, on anything other than BBC stations, was very poor and unlistenable to. This is in a major conurbation where DAB reception is very good. The item was returned for a refund as I was unable to listen to the stations that I wanted to.

Andy, Basingstoke, “Long Distance Driver!”
Great idea, and when it worked the sound quality is very good.
Out of signal more often than it's in. The dashboard mount is VERY poor quality, and amounts to a piece of thick wire that is hard to change. Plastic fitting was broken in seconds, causing the unit to drop off the dash all the time. Not keen on having so many wires all over the place either...it needs a li-ion battery that could be used (like modern sat-nav units) so less need to have the cable to the power outlet. Great concept - maybe the MkII version will hit the mark better.

Easy to fit, the unit looks pretty fine & is easy to operate.
the window mounting is a bit agricultural so I tried stashing the unit in the glove box with all the wires hidden behind the dash but reception was a bit iffy

Fm transmit range 87.6 to 107.9 DAB autoscan
Unable to stay with radio station (ie,CHILL) when moving from one local multiplex to the next (Highway- Does not continuously scan all frequences for same station- which may have better reception) Too much HISS when playback of MP3 when using AUX input (compared to my previous FM sender) Suction pad TOO large and Flexi arm TOO short. Replacement AERIAL not availiable from pure online shop! DAB reception in general is POOR, UNTIL RPC5 power upgrades to most transmitters is implemented so the use of HIGHWAY will be limited to on Strong Signal areas. 90% of population = ONLY 50% of landarea , I find myself switching to FM which is always better.

Mike, Tenterden, Kent
I can still listen to my favourite radio stations when on the move so I now no longer need to record to listen to later. It was very easy to install in the car.
Sometimes the reception (in Kent) is sometimes intermittent. It is however very good in London/Surrey and Berkshire areas. The car power adaptor is prone to getting knocked on my vehicle being just forward of the gear lever I may ask Pure if they have a different design available for my car.

I can,t really fault this Radio, apart from sometimes it won,t go into Digital Station, possibly area we live in,
As an older member of the community,I found it was that easy to understand, whilst trying to tune in to other stations, and still have,nt managed. A helpfull call center or similar would be useful.

Extra stations and AM stations available on dab.
Cable clutter and you only get 1 chance to position the ariel.

Poor and varying reception and more importantly because of the fix for once aerial we cannot transfer it between both of our cars

Brilliant bit of kit. I had a Revo before and this little diamond knocks spots of the Revo. I drive a truck and get almost perfect reception all over the country where as the Revo struggled. Thanks Pure DAB.

Travelling from Stirling to Inverness at first the quality of sound & reception were very good until I reached north of Perth, after which I could not get any reception until about 10 miles south of Inverness.

Everything. I bought this purely to listen to planet rock in the car, was easy to fit and tune it and I am so glad i bought it - worth every penny.
FM drops out now and again (it broadcasts itself to your car radio via fm) however as my car has an aux jack I have plugged in there and not had a problem since.

Good build quality, good reception and sound quality, has been reliable.
The case is a strange shape to carry, but ideal when clipped to the windscreen mount. Battery life not so great.

Gavin, Dudley, “Big BBC 1Xtra fan!”
It's one of the first of it's kind, and it allows me to listen to my favourite radio stations. I travel 2hrs to work, and i can travel the whole distance without having to keep changing channels, unlike fm radio.
i struggle to hide the wires which make my car look messy! The magnet came off the back, so it can't be mounted to the cradle. The magnet is not a good idea to attach it to the cradle
03 Jul 2008
Susy, Harpenden, “Big Music fan”
Access (albeit sporadic) to many different & interesting radio stations
No means of connecting device to car radio (whole purpose!!!). When this device was purchased (top end of mkt product) only mono sound received. Coupled with lousy reception, this is a poor deal.

Fantastic value for money - having a Ford car would have had to ruin my dashboard to put in a dgital due to unique shape of Ford's incar audio so this is the perfect solution.
Reception can dip for apparently no reason.

Being able to listen to BBC 7 and other stations not available on FM in the car plus good reception for Radio 5 compared with that of AM. Reception excellent.
Break through from FM stations when it chooses a frequency to broadcast on that is rather too close to that of an FM station.

Martyn, Bedford (home)
acces to mw stations that broadcast on dab
bad coverage in parts of hertfordshire and virtually none in suffolk having to retune the fm signal as the airwaves are very crowded and there are few gaps to fit in the signal from the highway to the car radio aerial not available as a spare part so that it can be easily replaced when car sold or when using unit in another car

Ability to use out of car with headphones as a personal radio.
Only one chance to affix the aerial to the windscreen; inability to run off batteries in-car.

Very good for plying MP3 through.

Fanastic sound quality
Will single handedly cause global warming from cause the battery usage for away from the car is horrendous. If our using most of the time in car then buy it. If you want a personal DAB get sommat else!

Its a nice design and very clever
The reception is terrible, and its very dangerous to change the channel while driving.

Howard, St.helens, “Elderly retired gadget enthusiast”
Design of the Highway is excellent. It is easy to use and reception is good in large conurbations.
Reception a little shaky in the countryside and the aerial is a little flimsy. It may have helped if the aerial cable could have been detached from the screen mounted aerial when not in use.

Take DAB wherever you go. Suitable for In-car use, but also good as a portable DAB. Easy to upgrade via USB. Much better for MP3/Ipod/phone FM transmission than similar cheaper devices.
Can use batteries quickly when not used as an in-car device. A little large to be truly classed as portable USB cable not supplied.

Easy to use and good sound quality - when you have decent reception
Reception is intermittant. As a result it cuts in and out too regularly. Perhaps it needs a better aerial?

Reception not great (Fair bit of hissing) more noticable when I connect the MP3. Self adhesive aerial fixture. Good unless you have to get your windscreen replaced.

18 Aug 2008
Ian, Bristol, “avid DAB listener”
The Pure Highway was mentioned by a friend as a good product and a week later I had bought and installed one my self. It meant that after some month of not being able to receive AM or DAB stations I could now listen to them!
The only negative that I've experienced is that the input into the cigarette lighter of the car is easy to dislodge when changing gear. Otherwise it is fine!

the mp3 qualty is very poor can't use it (really bad)

Pendle, Wakefield
Initial setup is very easy. Plug in, turn on and it finds all channels in the local area and set's the FM frequency for your in-car radio (although not perfect if you commute for work!)
The holder has a magnet stuck down with Blutack (which was discovered as the mount fell off the window - that's Yorkshire cobbled streets for you!)

Poor reception. Fixed aerial is disappointing if you want to use it in more than one car I place it behind the sun visor

Easy to fit, easy to use, reception is excellent thus far.
A few trailing wires in the car, but prepared to have that in order to receive all the DAB stations.

Jay, Wolverhampton, “Handsome father ”
* Flexibility to have all the DAB radio stations whilst on the move * Can be nicely tucked away out of sight when the car is parked * No need to change the existing stereo system in the car, no messy installations * Can be used as a portable unit using any headphones
* Rather than using any free FM frequency channel, would be nice to have one dedicated channel if that is possible. As one journey can involve you re scanning for another free radio frequency several times, which is not the ideal scenario you want to deal with when you should be concentrating on safe driving. * The buttons are a little plastic could be better quality, so when pressed you can tell you have pressed it.

the overall design is very good and the accessories included make this a very complete solution
the buttons are a bit fiddly (presets above 4) and in my area finding a clear frequency for the FM transmitter is tiresome
